Thirty-Three in 33
The Year of 33 starts for me on February 2, 2009. During the year that I reign supreme over these two threes, here are the things that I want accomplish, in no particular order. When one is accomplished, it will be ceremoniously crossed out.
- finish my giant cross-stitch projects: the one I started before Mr. X and I got married and the one I started around the time that we started trying to get pregnant. Update: both have been found (!) and washed in Delicare. I have officially started work on the Samurai!
- start training with G to do service work at hospitals. We passed the certification!
- finish writing at least half of my book
- Read Bleak House (Update: I’ve started it).
- Read Portrait of a Lady
- make at least one new friend outside of the computer
- volunteer with the rescue organization from which we got G
- finish the scrapbook I started for our 2007 vacation
- enlist my mother-in-law to help me redesign our front garden
- take a trip with my mom, just the two of us
- visit a new city
- visit a new state
- visit a new country
- bake cookies for Christmas and give them to my neighbors, like we used to do when I was a kid.
- dress up for Halloween
- learn how to sew a piece of clothing from a pattern
- learn how to juggle
- do the scrapbook from our 2008 vacation
- make a quilt just for me
- try out one of the dance classes at the gym
- make a pair of earrings
- beat Mr. X at Trivial Pursuit & Scrabble
- be caught up on my magazine reading by the end of the year
- make at least two projects out of the fabulous sewing book I got
- do a water color painting of our old house
- create a cross-stitch pattern in my own unique design
- make a quilt for an anonymous NICU baby
- continue growing my hair out and successfully fight the urge to chop it all off once it’s done growing
- donate clothes that I haven’t worn in more than a year (except clothes that I’m holding in case I get pregnant)
- learn how to put on eyeshadow and eyeliner (and not look like a raccoon in the process)
- Go horseback riding (ok, I blatantly stole this one from GreenEggsNHam, but this seriously is one of my goals)
- Tone my arms and legs, but not scary Madonna toning
- Make the list of 34 for next year!
Damn, that was hard.

Ok, I’m jealous that I didn’t think of #17! I’d love to learn how to juggle…. hello possible contender for 39!
Have you ever been to Canada? If not, I can help you with #13 & #6!
#16 is not that hard. Pick an easy pattern – something with no curves, sleeves, or collar in it, like a sundress – and follow the instructions. But don’t forget to finish the seams (overlock stitch them or pink them). They never mention that in the instructions, but if you don’t do it the whole thing will shred the first time you wash it.
